Rosemary Poppy Seeds Biscuits or Should I say Crackers ?

Image
Yes, before faithful blog followers  point out , let me admit it myself ..I still had some rosemary left and while not fresh had to be incorporated into a bake. Not just any other bake...mind you..a savory bake ..why?? ..because I was once again bitten by the savory bug. After baking so many sweet treats, I have developed a temporary aversion to them . Let me admanantly admit that this aversion is temporary (has happened one time too many ) , so you guys won't have to wait too long for a sweet bake. For now though, I had to satiate my savory craving and these rosemary  poppy seeds "biscuits" seemed the logical choice for my next baking adventure. The recipe for this savory bake has been adapted from a one by "Mr.Killer Blue Eyes"  A.K.A Paul Hollywood himself . yes..I am bitten by "The Great British Bakeoff " bug too.Talking of all this biting , would like to state my ultimate fantasy. Of having  Mr.Blue Eyes taking a bite off my bake ..fix...

Baked French Fries and Junky Fridays !

Image
Have no clue when this happened but somehow Friday became "Friesday" in the Roy household. Wait..I think I have a clue . Maybe it is the fact that after a week of healthy eating and home cooked meals , the idea of indulging in some junk food seems too hard to resist. I may detest fried potatoes personally but hubby and kids are far too fond of them . So much so that even the talk of them is enough to warrant a visit to the nearest Burger King . Yes, they are very selective about their fries. It has to be the above mentioned as anywhere else just wouldn't cut it..anywhere else the fries are either too bland or not crispy enough . So, you guys get the general idea of how possessive they are regarding their fries and any call for replacement or substitution is met with fierce resistance from Mr. Roy himself. But when has that deterred me before ? I am always ready for a challenge . My son may have given a "shocked" look when I suggested the idea of bake...

Spinach Egg Muffins and Cold Mornings

Image
The winter storm may have spared us but it still is very cold here in the Carolinas. These spinach egg muffins along with a cup of tea make cold winter mornings perfect ! Not that I needed a reason to enjoy these savory treats  . Egg muffins have been on my  "to bake soon" list for quite some time and today's frigid cold morning gave me the perfect excuse to give them a try .  I have two school goings kids and believe me when I say enforcing healthy breakfast options in the morning rush time is challenging ...but not impossible. Healthy breakfast muffins have come to my rescue in the past too..remember these  banana oatmeal muffins  ...they are fool proof and a great hit with the kids and hubby , every time I bake them. I love savory muffins as a healthy breakfast option because of their ease of preparation. Sure, you have to chop a few veggies , beat the eggs but once you pop them in the oven , you are good to take care of t...

Of Savory Cravings and Zeera Cookies

Image
There are some tastes from your childhood that have such a firm grip on you that try as you might to resist, once you get the craving/urge ..it has be to be satiated . The above picture might have given you a clue that these cumin seed biscuits ( or cookies as we call them in the US ) have me fully entrapped in their power. Back in New York , whenever we went to our favorite desi area for the groceries (just a paltry 45 minutes drive ) , my feet used to drag me automatically to the aisle where they were neatly stacked for me to pick . But here , in the Carolinas , having being bitten by the baking bug and the lack of the 45 minute drive, prompted me to bake these desi delights for myself . The fact that it was raining might have been a contributing factor too. So, after having dropped my daughter headed straight to then kitchen. After all, I wanted them Mr,Roy to have a sampling of them fresh from the oven when we both sat down for our first cup of tea for the day . M...
