100% Whole Wheat Bread and Not Just Sweet Things !

Image
It is a common misnomer that baking is all about sweet stuff . Mention the fact that you bake and chances are you might get a response like "Ohh...your kids must be happy to always have an ample stock of cake and brownies "  well...I do bake the aforementioned but most people don't realize that there is more to baking that just the usual array of cakes and cupcakes that we all get a pictorial overdose of online. I believe these heavily frosted "sweet devils" take all the limelight while the humble life sustaining bread and countless other savory baked things have to take the  backseat .  I personally believe that baking bread is very therapeutic. Few things give more pleasure than the sight of home baked bread straight from the oven . One feels a connection to all those souls who have lived centuries before  and enjoyed this so rewarding pursuit. On more than one occasion , I have wondered how it would feel to bake bread in the royal bakery of KIng Rams...

Fresh Rosemary Bread and Thoughtful Gifts !

I'll be the first to admit that I don't possess a green thumb. My knowledge of gardening is practically zilch  but that doesn't stop me from dreaming of going to my imaginary herb garden and just picking a few and incorportaing them in my bakes. My imagination is quite vivid and advanced in that regard-- I can even smell the fresh herbs lending a heavenly aroma to my kitchen . What pure bliss can I conjure ..right ? Anyways, coming back to reality , the closest I come to getting this spiritual experience is when a good friend takes pity and gifts me some fresh herbs. That does happen and I bless them a million times. My latest blessings were for a friend who sent me some fresh romsemary from her garden . The sight of them sent me into a baking frenzy . Make it bread baking frenzy . There is no other bake that can do justice to rosemary than freshly baked home bread, The aroma and flavor are simple divine not to emntion the extreme satisfaction you get from baking y...

Image
My savory fascination continues......so much for me being a slave to my sweet tooth. Hubby has an interesting theory about it..he says my case is now like the "halwai"...after a year of sweet bakes , I have developed an immunity against them !!! If what he says is correct, I fervently pray and hope it remains that way...would be so much better for my waistline !!! Back to savory...it all started with the  chana pulao  ..well at least on the blog...which was followed by the festive tortilla rollups  ...me ditching sweets on Christmas day must be indicative of some big change..right !My appetite for savory wasn't at all satiated....had to go for a non-sweet bake too ..what better than dinner rolls ? The only trouble ..I'm not a bread person so was avoiding baking one ..but it is the holidays and kids are home and mom has to be creative and try new things ...so how about spicing up the dinner rolls by adding cumin and onions? I admit that dinner roll...
